The 5th Buddha in the series of 13 is Jizō Bosatsu. The kanji character for “Ji” is the same in the Japanese word “daichi”, which means “earth” in English.
As Buddhism spread from India to China, under the influence of Taoist Juo thought, earth and hell became tied together. And so, Jizō is the Buddha who saves us from this hell.
This item's design consists of a print design with many layers superimposed on one another. Due to this layered design, it has a three-dimensional appearance with a pleasurable uneven look.
