Yakumonuri lacquerware, a traditional craft product designated by the governor of Shimane Prefecture

On Yakumonuri lacquerware, patterns are depicted with various colored lacquer, mother-of-pearl, and gold or silver powder on lacquered base material. Fine natural transparent lacquer is overlaid on it and then finished with a traditional polishing technique. As years go by, the transparent lacquer becomes clearer making the patterns more magnificent.

Camellia, a city flower of Matsue, is designed with colored lacquer on the round tray, which is finished like Shunkei-nuri.
