Tokowakaya's "Ise Stencil Traditional Fine Pattern Bags" are carefully hand-made one-by-one by skilled craftsmen completely within Japan.
The pattern is made with a valuable stencil used for an Ise stencil traditional komon pattern.
A chisel is used on washi processed paper and a pattern is carefully carved out. To make this stencil, advanced skills, perseverance and patience are required.
This Ise stencil is used and then, by a unique Japanese dyeing method "chusen" (hand-dyeing), Ise cotton cloth is colored and then the surface is finished with water-repellent processing.
The handle uses "Iga Braiding" that is also used as kimono sash clips. This can also be used along with Western-style clothing.
